BENZOYL PEROXIDE

To treat an acne condition, it is important to clear the follicle as quickly as possible. Benzoyl Peroxide, used for over 50 years, has proven to be the most effective treatment for acne and the most effective against P. Acnes bacteria. Benzoyl Peroxide penetrates the pore, releases oxygen and kills P. Acnes, bacteria that live without oxygen below the skin’s surface. It also causes peeling deep in the follicle (pore), which loosens acne impactions and prevents new impactions from forming. BP controls oil, reduces inflammation and is unsurpassed in addressing all grades of acne.

SALICYLIC ACID

For those that are allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide, have sensitive skin or have dry skin, Salicylic Acid products are an excellent alternative. Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) derived from the bark of the willow tree. BHAs are a larger molecule than AHAs so they work on the surface and dissolve the top layer of corneum cells and exfoliate within the follicles. This exfoliating action helps expel follicular impactions, thus preventing future breakouts. Because of the larger size molecule, Salicylic Acid produces less irritation than AHAs, making it a welcome alternative for those with sensitive skin.
